Methodology Description
The saxophone playing methodology at the Montessori Center is unique and aimed at achieving the individual goals of each student, both children and adults.
The methodology involves defining specific musical objectives at the beginning of the instruction. These objectives consist of musical pieces of varying difficulty that the student aims to master. Progress is assessed through public performances and participation in competitions, where successful execution serves as confirmation of goal achievement.
Methodology Advantages
1. Clear goal setting: Defining specific objectives helps saxophone course students understand their tasks and provides clear direction for achieving them.
2. Flexibility in learning: Our program provides students with the opportunity to develop at their own pace, taking into account individual characteristics and the speed of acquiring saxophone playing skills.
3. Practical experience: Participation in public performances at concerts and competitions provides valuable experience and allows students to apply their skills in practice before an audience.
4. Accessibility for all ages: The methodology is suitable for both younger and adult learners, making music education accessible and universal for everyone.
5. Continuation of learning: After achieving primary goals, students can continue to refine their skills, striving for continuous growth and improvement of their proficiency.
The methodology is adapted for students of all levels and assumes an individual approach to the development of saxophone playing skills. The flexibility of this approach makes learning dynamic and engaging, allowing each student to achieve personal goals and maintain a love for music throughout their lives.
Beginner Level
At the beginner level of the saxophone course, students are introduced to the basics of music theory and learn musical notation for the saxophone, which is key to their musical development. This period also includes mastering rhythmic exercises, melodies, and various musical symbols necessary for accurate performance of musical pieces. Upon completion of this level, students can successfully play simple melodies, having mastered the basic techniques of saxophone sound production.
Intermediate Level
At the intermediate level of the saxophone course, students acquire important skills necessary for performing more complex compositions. The main focus is on developing saxophone playing technique, stage confidence, and musical expressiveness, including the development of skills for conveying emotional depth in the music.
Advanced Level
At the advanced level of the saxophone course, students master complex musical pieces, embodying the composer's musical intention and style. Students study various saxophone playing techniques, develop phrasing skills, and dynamics.
Upon completion of the course, students are capable of performing complex musical compositions, delving deeply into the essence of the piece and applying all the techniques they have mastered. The instruction also includes understanding music theory and harmony, enabling students to professionally analyze and interpret musical works.
Course Objectives
The main objective of the saxophone course is to master the technique of playing this instrument, which possesses a unique and unmistakable sound. For beginner saxophonists, this includes developing breathing techniques and positioning of the embouchure (lips, hands, body), which are critically important for performing complex musical pieces with precision and expressiveness.
Students also learn various saxophone playing techniques, enabling them to perform pieces in accordance with the musical context and emotional depth.
Another important objective of the instruction is to acquire skills in reading music notation. This ability facilitates the understanding and performance of musical compositions. After achieving this goal, students can independently analyze and perform discovered and favorite pieces.
The course also aims to perform pieces of various genres, contributing to the development of performance confidence and allowing students to assess their own progress. The main focus of the lessons is not competition but continuous improvement and enjoyment of the musical process.
