Course Overview
The drum course is conducted online and is designed for children aged 8 and older, as well as adults without age restrictions. In our drum course, you will learn to play various rhythms, perform modern musical compositions, and develop a sense of rhythm. We have developed a training program that includes levels: beginner, intermediate, and advanced.
A drum lesson lasts 45 minutes and is conducted individually. Our teachers instruct in Russian, Ukrainian, and English, allowing students to choose a convenient language for learning. The lesson schedule is tailored to each student's availability and preferences.
Online drum lessons are conducted on platforms such as Google Meet and Zoom. Our instructors have higher musical education and extensive experience, with many actively performing on stage.
The frequency of lessons is individually tailored. We recommend conducting lessons at least twice a week to ensure steady progress and avoid long breaks between sessions, which aids in better material retention.
Students of our school participate in concerts, competitions, and master classes, receiving diplomas and certificates confirming their skill level. Additionally, students are awarded certificates upon completion of each module and level.
Teaching Methodology
The drum teaching methodology is an original program of the Montessori Center, aimed at individual achievements for each student and suitable for both children and adults. Our methodology is based on setting specific musical goals from the beginning of training. The goals include mastering musical pieces of varying difficulty. Skill assessment occurs through participation in concerts and competitions, where successful performance confirms the achievement of set goals.
Methodology Benefits
Clear Goals: Students understand their objectives and have clear benchmarks to achieve their goals in drumming.
Flexible Learning: The program allows students to progress according to their individual pace of skill acquisition.
Practical Experience: Participation in performances and competitions provides practical experience and the opportunity to apply acquired skills on stage.
Accessibility for All Ages: The methodology is suitable for both children and adults, ensuring the universality and accessibility of education.
Continuous Development: After achieving all goals, students can continue to develop their skills, increasing their level of mastery.
Course Levels
Beginner Level: Includes the basics of music theory and learning to read musical symbols and notes. Students master basic drumming techniques and perform simple compositions.
Intermediate Level: Focuses on developing technical skills and performance confidence. Students master more complex rhythms and compositions, enhancing musical expressiveness.
Advanced Level: Involves mastering complex drum parts and various playing techniques. Students study different styles and develop technical virtuosity, phrasing, and dynamics skills.
Course Goals
The primary goal of the course is to master drumming techniques. This includes developing hand and foot coordination, which is crucial for accurate performance. Students learn various playing techniques, allowing them to adapt their technique depending on the musical context. Another important goal is to develop note-reading and rhythm skills, making it easier to navigate musical pieces and perform them. Students learn to play pieces of different genres and styles, which contributes to developing confidence and allows them to assess personal progress.
Benefits of Drum Lessons
Development of Coordination and Motor Skills: Playing the drums requires high coordination of hand and foot movements, which promotes motor skills development. This is especially beneficial for children as it enhances their overall physical coordination and fine motor skills.
Improvement of Concentration and Attention: To play the drums, one needs to simultaneously keep track of the rhythm, read notes, and manage multiple limbs. This develops concentration and multitasking abilities.
Stress Relief and Mood Enhancement: Drumming is an excellent way to release energy and relieve stress. The physical activity during playing helps produce endorphins — happiness hormones — that improve emotional well-being.
Development of Musical Ear and Sense of Rhythm: Drum lessons focus on precise rhythm and musical expressiveness. This enhances musical ear and sense of rhythm, which are essential components of musical education.
Boost in Self-Esteem and Confidence: Mastering new drumming techniques and rhythms boosts confidence in one's abilities. Each new rhythm learned or successful performance adds to self-assurance and a sense of accomplishment.
Development of Self-Discipline and Responsibility: Regular drum lessons require discipline and perseverance. Continuous learning and practice help develop patience and a responsible attitude towards lessons.
Socialization and Teamwork: Playing drums in an ensemble or group fosters teamwork skills. Musicians learn to interact with each other, maintain a common rhythm and harmony, improving their communication skills and sense of unity.
Enhancement of Creativity: Drumming helps unlock creative potential. Musicians begin to experiment with different rhythms and styles, creating their unique compositions.
Improvement of Physical Fitness: Drumming requires physical activity, helping to maintain good physical condition. Regular sessions enhance endurance, strength, and flexibility.
In conclusion, drum lessons not only develop musical skills but also improve overall physical and mental well-being, promote personal growth, and social adaptation. Regardless of age and skill level, playing the drums brings numerous benefits and makes learning enjoyable and rewarding.
