Course overview
At Montessori Center, school students study algebra online. Our teachers help them understand school topics, fill gaps in knowledge, learn to solve problems independently, and prepare for tests and exams.
The course offers intermediate and advanced levels. We select topics and set the difficulty of exercises based on the student’s current level and school curriculum.
Lessons are held one-on-one with a teacher in real time. Each lesson lasts 45 minutes.
Teaching approach
Our approach to teaching algebra follows the curriculum of the child’s school.
During lessons, the teacher explains the rules and works through examples with the student. The child then completes similar exercises independently, explains their reasoning, and checks the answer.
Benefits of our approach
Addressing knowledge gaps: we review the rules and calculation methods needed to understand a new topic.
Individual pace: we spend more time on challenging tasks and move on once the student understands the material.
Error analysis: we identify where an error occurred, correct it, and help the student learn to check their solution.
Visual aids: we use diagrams, graphs, and worked examples that the student can see on screen.
Practice: we offer different types of exercises to help the child choose and apply the appropriate rules.
Intermediate level
The intermediate level is suitable for school students who are beginning to study algebra and need a teacher’s help with their current topics. We work through textbook exercises, helping students choose a solution method, write calculations step by step, and explain their actions. We revisit challenging topics using additional examples.
Advanced level
The advanced level is designed for high school students with a foundation in algebra. We work on more challenging problems: planning a solution, applying knowledge from several topics, and justifying each step. Depending on the learning goals, we explore difficult sections of the school curriculum in more detail or prepare for exams.
Course goals
Master the school curriculum: understand the main rules, fill gaps in knowledge, and reinforce what has been learned.
Develop logical thinking: recognize patterns, compare solution methods, and explain your reasoning.
Prepare for tests and exams: review relevant topics, work through typical questions, and learn to manage time when completing them.
Learn to solve problems independently: understand what a problem is asking, choose a solution method, and check the answer.
Improve your knowledge of algebra: work through more challenging problems and apply knowledge from several topics to a single problem.
Benefits of online algebra lessons
No travel to lessons: the child studies at home, leaving more time for other activities and rest.
Scheduling for your time zone: we agree on lesson days and times based on the student’s location and school schedule.
Communication with the teacher: during lessons, students can ask questions, request another explanation, or go over a difficult example in more detail.
Support between lessons: students can contact the teacher about course material and the administrator about scheduling and payments. We communicate via messaging apps and email.

How Online Algebra Lessons Work
Equipment: have a computer or tablet with a camera and microphone ready. A smartphone may not be suitable for lessons: its small screen can make it difficult to read formulas and work through problems.
Internet connection: lessons require a stable internet connection.
Joining the lesson: lessons take place on Zoom or Google Meet. Install the app in advance if needed. Before the first lesson, check the camera, microphone, and audio.
Headphones: we recommend using headphones with a microphone to hear explanations clearly and discuss solutions with the teacher.
Study space: set up a well-lit desk with space for the textbook and a notebook. Position the screen to avoid glare.
Lesson link: we will send it in advance by email or via a messaging app.
Learning materials: have the textbook, a notebook, and a pen ready. Your child’s recent schoolwork will also be useful for the first lesson, as it will help the teacher understand which topics your child is studying.
Study space and connection:
Explaining the topic: the teacher explains the rules and works through examples with the student.
Questions: the child can ask the teacher to explain something again or go through an exercise they don’t understand in more detail.
Practice: the student completes exercises independently and explains their reasoning. The teacher gives them time to think and helps when needed.
Reviewing solutions: the teacher discusses the chosen method with the student and helps them identify errors and check the answer.
End of the lesson: the teacher and student discuss the material covered, homework, and the plan for the next lesson.
Independent study: the teacher sends assignments to reinforce the material covered and, when needed, additional learning materials.
Preparing for the next lesson: the student reviews the rules covered and notes any exercises they found difficult so they can work through them with the teacher.
In one-on-one online algebra lessons at Montessori Center, your child follows their school’s curriculum.
The teacher helps them understand challenging topics and learn to solve problems independently.
