How Piano Lessons Are Conducted
Equipment: You will need a piano or digital keyboard, as well as a computer, tablet, or smartphone with internet access and a camera for video calls.
Internet Connection: Ensure that your internet connection is stable. The faster and more reliable your internet, the smoother the lesson will be.
Video Conferencing Platform: We use Zoom or Google Meet for online lessons. You will need to download and install the respective application if you don't have it already.
Audio: Use headphones for better sound quality. This will help reduce background noise and improve communication between you and the teacher.
You will receive a link to the lesson in advance via email.
Print out the sheet music before the lesson begins.
Set up your device for the online lesson to the right of the student, at the keyboard level or slightly higher, so that the teacher can see the keyboard, your hands, and your face.
Log into the Zoom or Google Meet application using the lesson link a little earlier to give yourself time to address any potential technical issues.
Instructions and Feedback: Your teacher will provide specific instructions for exercises, mastering new compositions, and improving your playing technique.
Questions: At any point during the lesson, feel free to ask questions. Don't hesitate to inquire about anything that isn't clear.
Practice: The majority of the lesson will focus on practical performance. You will play while the teacher observes, listens, and offers guidance.
Teacher's Gameplay Demonstration: Your teacher may also demonstrate specific segments, helping you better understand how they should sound.
Lesson Conclusion: By the end of the lesson, you and your teacher will discuss the material covered and plan for the next lesson.
Materials for independent practice at home, including sheet music and recordings, will be provided to you. These resources will assist you in practicing until the next lesson.
Learning at Montessori Center will be enjoyable and productive!
